Who is RafflesDesign Institute, Kuala Lumpur?
RafflesDesign Institute, Kuala Lumpur (RDIKL) campus was officially opened in 1994 offering courses in fashion design and fashion marketing. Since then, RDIKL has introduced new courses in the area of fashion as well as Interior Design, Interactive Media Design and Visual Communication (Graphic Design).


What is RafflesDesign’s reputation in the design industry?
Over the years, the RDIKL has built a reputation for producing some of the most talented and hard working young designers in Malaysia, winning numerous local and international awards. As a result, our student’s qualifications are recognised and highly respected by local industry.


Who are the lecturers at RafflesDesign?
Our profile of lecturers comprise of professionally trained experts in the related industries from all over the world – USA, England, Finland, Canada, Singapore and Malaysia. They bring with them a wealth of knowledge and experience gained from their own countries.


What qualification can I get from RafflesDesign?
After two years of intensive industry focused training, students will graduate with an internationally recognised Advanced Diploma. Students who wish to further their studies can continue a degree programme at our Beijing, Singapore, Shanghai or Sydney campuses.

When can I start my studies?
There are 4 terms a year commencing in January, April, July and October. Each term is 3 months in duration.

What are the entry requirements?
All applicants must have at least 3 credits at SPM.

Can I apply for module exemptions completed at another college?
Yes. However, you will need to present your portfolio (if applicable), transcripts and descriptions of completed modules to our admissions department for review.

Is there an English Language requirement?
Yes. All classes at RDIKL are conducted in English. Students that do not hold the minimum of a credit in English are required to sit for an English proficiency test conducted by RafflesDesign. If necessary, students are required to take the ESL programme (conducted in-house). Our ESL programme is an intensive course that covers a period of 3 months per level.









How do I apply for a Foreign Student Pass?
RDIKL will assist international students with their student pass applications. Students will need to submit the following documents to the admissions office no later than 6 weeks prior to the next commencement:
Completed application form
Application fee and first payment upon admission (bank draft / Telegraphic Transfer (T/T)) made payable to Raffles Design Institute Sdn Bhd)
2 copies of applicant’s passport (all pages)
Copy of applicant’s education transcripts and certificates
8 passport size photographs
A personal history (student resume), which must include the following:
Name
Gender (sex)
Date of birth
Highest educational qualification awarded
Parents’ names
Siblings, if any
Home address and contact number
Work and education history

What are the facilities like?
RDIKL is conveniently located behind City Square Shopping Centre and minutes away from the Petronas Towers. RDIKL has just completed a new building which houses the new fashion faculty, administration office, lecture theatres, resource centre and cafeteria. It is the first of four phases planned for the present site.

Does the school provide accommodation?
RDIKL operates a hostel, which is located about 20 minutes walk from the campus. We provide a bed, mattress, wardrobe, air-conditioning, dining table, kitchen with cooking facilities, broadband internet, cable television and 24-hour security.
The rates are:
-Twin Sharing is RM650 each per month (including electricity and water bill)
-Single Occupancy is RM1300 each per month (including electricity and water bill)
The above rates are subject to change.

The Admissions office will assist students who are interested to look for accommodation near the School. Kindly approach them for details and information.

Does your school provide scholarship award?
Yes. RDIKL offers its top students scholarships to complete a Bachelor of Design programme in Singapore. We also offer scholarships through the Star Education Fund.

Can I transfer my studies to other RafflesDesign colleges in other countries? How does the credit transfer work?
Yes, credits are transferable to other schools, depending on whether the specialisation is conducted at that school. Programmes conducted at the other Raffles schools are identical and credits will be given for all modules successfully completed. However, immigration requirements vary for student visa/pass approvals.








If I would like to transfer to another Raffles college, will my fees be affected? Will there be any charges incurred?
Fees paid in advanced will be calculated and transferred to the new location of study, after deduction of the transfer fees.

What course materials are required? Are textbooks included in the course fees? If not, are they compulsory?
Requirements vary depending on which course you choose. The admissions department can assist with individual course requirements. Textbooks are not included, however most classes provide handouts to complete coursework. Students are encouraged to buy recommended textbooks advised by their lecturers.

Raffles Design Institute are popular with design subjects, can I say that your Business Administration course is not so good?
Business students are afforded the opportunity to study in a creative environment, providing new perspectives on business practices.

I do not meet the requirements for admission. However, I have many years of work experience. Will my application be considered?
An applicant maybe considered with relevant work experience and portfolio. Final approval will be determined after an interview with the Programme Co-ordinator or Vice Dean.
